How are our colors numbered?

The vast majority of wig manufacturers today use the J&L color standard for both human and synthetic hair. This system matches each hair color with a number. The lower the number, the darker the color. Freeda, for uniformity purposes tries to stay within the parameters of this color code.

Here are some examples: 1 is jet black, 8 is light brown, 16 is honey blonde, 30 is light auburn. A combination of two colors is a darker color sprinkled with a lighter color, for example 16/10-which is a medium blonde. Although our ready-to-wear wigs have a limited number of color combinations, the color possibilities for our custom wigs are limitless. To best get the color you are looking for, please send us a swatch from your own hair.
